ARCH1201--Project 3--Drawings
My site is Site 1, according to the outline, our building should be no more than 30 metres deep, so I only use half of site 1. The other half at back which connects to the carpark nearby will be a large open space, so people can see and come to the gallery directly from the carpark.
In my design, I have serveral small galleries to display the sculptures and two main galleries display paintings either large or small. The main source of light in the gallery is the skylight and some narrow windows on the wall. In the facade, there will be two large openings to let people on King Street know this is a gallery, and people standing in the gallery can also get a street view underneath.
ARCH1201--Project 3--Sculptures
In my gallery, I want to display various artworks like sculptures and paintings from different artists. The picitures above show the sculptures from Robert Klippel will be displayed in my gallery. These sculptures are consisted with various parts, these parts connect to each other with different shapes or volumes which can be applied in my design as different volumes of galleries with various levels.
ARCH1201--Project 3--Precedent Study
My precedent study is the Yale Centre for British Art designed by Louis Kahn. From the photos above, we can see the main light source of the gallery is from the skylight, and there is a high window beside the paintings to access natural light on the paintings to make them show more arsthetic aspect.
